Unforgettable Moment

I've experienced so many unexpected moments in my life. I've been hypnotized by a stranger in public transport. Back then, I was in first grade junior highschool. As usual, I went home with my friend, Puput because we use same destination angkot. After we get in, we started chatting, talk about many things. Suddenly an old man entered and greet Puput, he said that he is Puput mom's friend. He also said that he have a nephew in our school. He talked a lot, he asked us to high five. It's the beginning for us being hypnotized. I think it's because we made a skinship because after that I got my mind blank. He asked us to get down in Alfamart, he said he wants to buy some fruits for Puput's mom. When we get down, he paid our tax. Puput whispered to me that she doesn't recognize him. But I can't think clearly so we entered Alfamart. There, he asked us to lend our phone because his phone was ran out of battery and he have to call someone. My handphone was turned off because ran out of battery, and I can't think clearly so I just give my blank face to him without answer his questions. Puput's face was same, but she didn't give her phone because her phone was broken. So we ignored him, with a blank face and didn't say anything. I think back then we looks like dum and dumber. He got angry to us because we didn't give our phone, so he yelled to us "Go! Go back to your home! I don't want to talk to you!". At the end, Puput and I ran out like a fool without realizing that we are in hypnosis.

Amazing Places: Jeju Island

Jeju Island or also known as Jeju-do (a short form of Jeju Special Autonomous Province) is the only special autonomous province of South Korea and the country’s largest island. It’s situated southwest of Jeollanam-do Province in the Korea Strait, a sea passage between South Korea and Japan. Although the island isn’t a famous destination for the western people, the Asians are very familiar with its amazing geographic and cultural potential. In the last few years, its popularity has grown, especially for the young couples which seem to consider the island a mystic  and romantic place. In time, it became one of the most visited places in East Asia, with more than four million visitors from mainland Korea, Japan, and China every year.

Jeju Island is a volcanic island created entirely from volcanic eruptions approximately 2 million years ago and is dominated by Halla-san (Halla Mountain): a volcano 1,950 meters high and the highest mountain in South Korea.
Because of the relative isolation, the people of Jeju have developed a culture and language that are different from those of mainland Korea, with many local legends and mystic beliefs. They even named it the “Island of the Gods”, taking after a legend that tells the story of demi-gods that lived on the island, considered to be the progenitors of Jeju people. Distinct cultural artifacts and stones with different shapes that are considered protective for the locals can be found here.

With a huge variety of landscapes, from long beaches to mountains and waterfalls, Jeju Island could turn out to be a thrilling experience. Cheonjeyeon and Cheonjiyeon waterfalls, Mount Halla, Hyeobje cave and Hyeongje island are just some of the popular sights on the island.

Depending on the season, Jeju hosts unsual festivals such as a penguin swimming contest in winter, a cherry blossom festival in spring, the midsummer night beach festival in summer and Jeju horse festival in autumn. Aside from these events, many activities can be done in Jeju such as horse riding, hunting, fishing, mountain climbing, hiking.

How tornadoes are formed

TORNADO

Tornadoes are one of the most powerful and deadly weather phenomena on land. They can destroy entire town and fling debris over great distances. However, how does a tornado form? The answer lies in the atmosphere and air pressure.

Weather is created by changes in the temperature and pressure of the atmosphere. Tornadoes are formed when both high pressure and low pressure air interact. A tornado happens in the same way a whirlpool in your sink or bath tub happens. A low internal pressure draws in high pressure air to form the vortex and eventually the tornado.
Tornadoes are normally formed when a thunderstorm occurs. The most common type of thunderstorm for forming tornadoes is the supercell. This is because this type of storm already has rotation occuring within it called a mesocycle. The tornado starts forming when a downdraft brings the mesocycle down near the grown starting the creation of a vortex.
The next step of the cycle starts when cloud wall is formed. This happens when the vortex starts drawing down the cloud into a funnel. The most dangerous part of the tornado is not the visible part its the winds created by the high pressure air being sucked into the tornado. This is what creates the destruction path scene after a tornado passes.
The next step is the maturation and strengthening of the tornado. Like any major storm phenomena, a tornado needs energy to increase in strength and sustain itself. The source of this energy is the moist warm air that is drawn into the tornado. The maturation part of the tornado’s life cycle is the most destructive since it not only increases in intensity, but also can last a long period of time.

Fortunately the down draft of air has cooled so it start to shut down the funnel it created by cutting off its supply of warm air. This begins the end phase of the tornado. The tornado begins to thin and become less well developed. Eventually it completely loses energy and the funnel completely disperses.
Tornadoes don’t just form singly. They can also form in groups called families or outbreaks. These are often weaker tornadoes created by the intense rotation of a strong and larger tornado. While weaker the biggest tornado ever can create a lot of damage.
There is a lot of great articles on Universe Today that you can enjoy. There is a great article about how the biggest tornado can be determined. There is also an interesting piece about a lightning storm generated by a volcano in Chile.
